A plot of land in Nigeria is normally measured to be 50ft by 100ft (15m by 30m) and its area is 450sqmtrs. So in our estimation of the cost of fencing 1 plot, we shall assume the length of the land to be 100ft or 30m and the width as 50ft or 15m.
However, it should be noted that some states and communities in Nigeria measure a plot of land as 60ft by 100ft.
The following stages and costs will be considered in the total cost of fencing 1 plot of land in Nigeria:
Excavation of fence foundation of 1plot in Nigeria and costs:
Material cost – the excavation will not attract any material cost because no material is needed for the excavation order than the laborer’s tools.
Labor cost – we will determine the total partition to be excavated by adding up the perimeter of the land which is 15m x2 + 30m x 2 = 30m +60m = 90m.
We will then subtract the dimension of the gate which is 4m, so we have 90m – 4m = 86m.
To get the partition to be excavated we will divide the result by 1 partition which is 3.6m, that is 86m divided by 3.6m which is approximately 24 partitions.
Therefore if the total partition to be excavated is 24, assuming the cost of digging each partition (which depends on location) is 1,500naira, then the cost of excavating the foundation of 1 plot of land will be 1,500naira x 24 partitions which is 36,000naira.
Concreting of foundation footing and columns of 1plot fence in Nigeria:
We derived our total fence partition to be 24, assuming a bag of cement will be used for the casting of 1 partition (depending on the mixture), then we will need 24 bags of cement for the concreting of our fence foundation.
Also if we place our fence columns at intervals of 3.6m after removing the dimension of the gate, then we will need approximately 19 columns for our fence.
Assuming we use a bag of cement for the casting of each column (depending on the mixture), then 19 bags of cement will be required for the casting or concreting of our fence columns.
Therefore total bags of cement for concreting of the fence foundation footing and columns will be 19 + 24 bags = 43 bags of cement.
The cost of materials for concreting of fence foundation and columns of 1plot fence will be –
Cement 43 bags x 4,200 per bag = 180,600naira
Granite 10 tons x 5,500naira = 55,000naira
Sand 10 tons x 4,000naira = 40,000naira
Cost of material = 275,600naira
Cost of labor will be from 80,000naira
Formwork(carpentry works):
Materials and cost –
1’ x 12’ wood – 38pcs x 1,500naira each = 57,000naira
1 bag of 3’ nail @ 15,000naira
Material cost = 72,000naira
Labor cost from 40,000naira
Reinforcement (iron works):
Materials and cost –
20pcs of 10mm rod x 3,300 per length = 66,000naira
1 bundle of quarter rod (6mm) @ 18,000
